What a CNC plasma cutter cuts
Plasma cutting works by striking an electric arc inside a stream of compressed gas: the gas turns into plasma, melts the material along the cut line and blows it out of the kerf. There is one condition - the material has to conduct electricity.
That is why a plasma cutter works on mild steel, galvanised sheet, aluminium and stainless steel; the RBP specification puts it as "steel and non-ferrous metals". Acrylic, plywood, rubber and leather are out of reach - non-metals belong to the CO2 laser plotters.
Three plasma configurations
RBP 1515W is the compact plasma cutting machine, with a 1500 × 1500 × 150 mm working area, a steel-and-aluminium frame and a slat table with an integrated water tray.
RBP 1530 is a CNC plasma plotter with a water table and torch anti-collision, which protects the head when a cut part tips up.
RBP 1530 PRO is the continuous-duty build: Myplasm control, helical drives and a cooled water table.
Plasma or laser
A plasma cutter costs less to buy and less to keep running than a laser cutter, and in thicker material it is often simply faster. A fiber laser wins where a narrow kerf, a clean edge and fine detail in thin sheet decide the job.
Rule of thumb: steel structures, sections and parts headed for welding - plasma. Precise thin-sheet parts and repeatable edge quality with no secondary finishing - fiber laser plotter.

How much does a CNC plasma cutter cost?
Indicative net prices are shown on the machine cards above for the models that carry a catalogue price. The final figure depends on the configuration - plasma source, torch, table length and fume extraction - so every quote is prepared individually.
What is the difference between plasma and laser?
Plasma cuts with an electric arc and only works on electrically conductive metals. A fiber laser cuts with a light beam - narrower kerf, cleaner edge, higher price. A CO2 laser is a third, separate technology: it cuts non-metals and does not cut metal at all.
How thick a sheet will plasma cut?
Maximum thickness is set by the plasma source specified with the order, not by the plotter itself - the same frame runs with different sources. Tell us the material and the thickness you cut most often and we will match the source and torch.
Why does a plasma plotter need a water table?
Water under the sheet quenches sparks, binds part of the cutting dust and limits distortion in thin material. Every Roboteus plasma plotter has one - integrated into the frame on RBP 1515W, cooled on RBP 1530 PRO.
